How to use
Converting pay rates requires assumptions about how much you work. The defaults assume a 40-hour, 5-day week across all 52 weeks; changing them is what makes the result match your actual contract rather than a generic full-time one.
Enter your pay and its period
Type the figure exactly as it is quoted to you, then select whether that is hourly, weekly, monthly or annual. Every other period is derived from it.
Set your working hours
Hours per week drives the hourly rate. If you regularly work more than your contracted hours, entering the real number shows what you are actually earning per hour.
Set days per week
This determines the daily rate. Part-time and compressed-hours patterns need this changed, or the daily figure will assume a five-day week you do not work.
Adjust paid weeks per year
Keep 52 for salaried roles with paid leave. Lower it for contract work with unpaid gaps — a contractor working 46 weeks earns considerably less annually than the day rate alone suggests.
Examples
Annual salary to hourly rate
A 60,000 annual salary on a standard 40-hour week across 52 weeks works out to about 28.85 per hour, 230.77 per day, 1,153.85 per week and 5,000 per month.
Contractor day rate to annual
A 400 day rate looks like 104,000 a year at five days across 52 weeks. Set paid weeks to 44 to account for holidays and gaps between contracts and it falls to 88,000 — a difference of 16,000 that the headline rate hides.
