This policy describes what data Toolbox collects and how it is handled. The short version: the tools themselves process everything in your browser, so what you type or open never reaches us.
What the tools do with your data
Every tool on this site runs as JavaScript in your browser. Text you paste, numbers you enter and image files you open are processed on your own device and are never transmitted to our servers.
This is a technical property of how the site is built, not only a promise. Once a tool page has loaded you can disconnect from the internet and it will continue to work, because there is no server involved in the computation.
- Calculator inputs are never transmitted or stored.
- Text pasted into formatters, validators and converters stays in your browser's memory.
- Image files are read directly from your device, processed with the Canvas API, and discarded when you close the tab.
- Password and hash tools use the browser's built-in Web Crypto API. No generated value is transmitted.
What we do collect
We collect standard technical information that any web server receives when you request a page, and aggregate usage statistics that help us understand which tools are worth building and improving.
This information is not used to identify you, and it is not linked to anything you enter into a tool.
- Server logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested page and timestamp, retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Aggregate analytics: page views, referring site, approximate country and device type.
- Your language preference, stored in a cookie so the site opens in the language you chose.
- Your theme preference, stored in your browser's local storage.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage. None of them are used to build a profile of you across other websites.
The language cookie remembers which language you selected so you are not redirected away from it on your next visit. The theme preference is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to a server.
Advertising
This site is supported by advertising rather than subscriptions. We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may set cookies and collect information about your visit — including your IP address, approximate location, browser type and pages viewed — in order to select, personalise and measure ads.
Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Ad Settings, not this policy. You can opt out of personalised advertising at https://www.google.com/settings/ads or through industry tools such as https://optout.aboutads.info/.
Third parties
We do not sell your data. We do not share the contents of anything you enter into a tool, because we never receive it in the first place.
The site is served through a content delivery network, which necessarily processes your IP address in order to route the request to you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to certain processing.
Because the tools do not collect personal data, requests of this kind generally concern server logs and analytics only. Contact us to make a request.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on the announcements page.
