Image Compressor

Reduce image file size by adjusting quality in your browser

Select an image to get started

Everything runs in your browser. Your data never leaves your device.

How to use

Upload an image, drag the quality slider to your desired compression level, review the size comparison, and download the compressed file — entirely inside your browser without any server involved.

  1. Upload your image

Click or drag and drop a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file into the upload area. The original file size is shown immediately so you have a baseline for comparison.

  2. Adjust the quality slider

Drag the slider between 10 and 100. Lower values produce smaller files with more visible compression artifacts. A value of 75–85 is a practical sweet spot for most photographs that balances quality and size well.

  3. Review the savings and download

The tool shows the compressed size and the percentage reduction in real time. Once you are happy with the trade-off, click Download to save the compressed image to your device.

Examples

Compressing a blog photo for faster page load

A 3.2 MB JPEG blog photo compressed at quality 78 typically drops to around 400–600 KB — an 80% reduction — with no visible degradation at normal viewing sizes. This can cut page load time significantly for visitors on slow connections.

Reducing a screenshot for a Slack or email attachment

Chat and email tools often impose file size limits on attachments. Compress a PNG screenshot at quality 70 to shrink it well below the typical 10 MB limit while keeping the text and UI elements legible.

About this tool

Compress JPEG, PNG, and WebP images by adjusting a quality slider from 10 to 100 percent. The tool displays the original file size, the compressed file size, and the percentage saved so you can make an informed trade-off between size reduction and visual quality. All compression is performed by the Canvas API running locally in your browser — your image is never uploaded to a server, so sensitive photos stay private and processing is instant.
